Beetroot paratha is a nutritious dish. It has the properties of beetroot which are beneficial for our health. Beetroot is rich in carbohydrates, protein, fiber, fat, calcium, iron, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavin, folate, and vitamin B-6. This colorful vegetable is also rich in vitamins and minerals. It helps in increasing the amount of hemoglobin in our body. It can be included in your diet in many ways. Parathas made from it are not only good in taste but are also nutritious. Let's know how it is made -

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 medium beetroot, grated

1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

1 tsp ginger paste

1 tsp garlic paste

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp oil 

Salt to taste

Water, as needed

Oil for cooking the parathas

  • To prepare beetroot puree, peel and chop the beetroot and boil it in water for a while. Do not boil it too much.

  • After boiling, take it out of the water cool it down, and make a paste.

Prepare the dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, add wheat flour, beetroot paste, cumin seeds, carom seeds, ginger paste, garlic paste, green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt.

  • Mix all the ingredients well and prepare a soft dough. If needed, you can add water.

  • After this, apply some oil to the dough and leave it for half an hour.

  • To make parathas, divide the dough into equal-sized balls.

  • Take a ball of dough, flatten it a little, and apply some dry flour on it, and roll it into a paratha.

  • Heat the pan.

  • Put the rolled paratha on it.

  • Cook it for 1-2 minutes until bubbles appear on the surface of the paratha.

  • Now flip the paratha and apply some oil on the edges and top.

  • Flip it and cook well on both sides for 1-2 minutes.

  • Prepare the rest of the parathas in the same way.

Eat beetroot parathas with curd, pickle, or any chutney of your choice. They are very good in taste and healthy also. You can also eat it with curry and vegetables.
