Besan Cheela India's healthy and tasty breakfast

Cheela is a favorite breakfast of Indians. It is made in many ways and is eaten in the morning, which makes the stomach feel full throughout the day and reduces hunger. It is a type of pancake in which gram flour is mixed with vegetables like tomato, onion, chili, coriander, etc. Let us learn to make gram flour cheela today:



Ingredients:

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped

  • 1 green chili, finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • Pinch of Dhania powder

  • Pinch of garam masala

  • Salt to taste

  • Water to make the batter

  • Oil for cooking



Method of Cooking

  • In a mixing bowl, add gram flour, chopped onion, tomato, green chili, coriander leaves, a pinch of garam masala, a pinch of coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt according to taste.

  • Mix it well in dry form.

  • Now add water slowly in the dry mixture and prepare a smooth batter. Make sure that there are no lumps.

  • Heat a non-stick pan and lightly apply oil on it.

  • Pour a ladle of batter into the pan and spread it evenly to make a thin pancake.

  • Cook it on medium flame until the edges rise, then flip and cook until the other side becomes golden brown.

  • Prepare all the Cheela with this method.

  • Serve it hot with chutney or curd. You can also eat it with tea, it is very tasty to eat and is also very healthy.

Some tips to make the perfect chilla:


  1. Make sure the batter is smooth and thick like pancake batter. Too thin or too thick will not make the chilla good.

  2. Cook the chilla on medium heat to ensure it cooks well.

  3. You can also add other vegetables like grated zucchini, palak, capsicum, or chopped cabbage for extra nutrition and variety.

  4. Use less oil while making it. You can use a non-stick pan for this.
