Easy and Quick Ma ki Dal recipe

Maa ki dal or black dal is a famous dish of Punjab. It is made with urad dal and rajma. It is rich in many nutrients. It is very easy to make. Let's see how it is made:



 Ingredients

  • 1¼ cups Black gram

  • ¼ cup Kidney beans soaked in water for 1 hour

  • 6½ cups Water

  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped

  • 1 inch Ginger cut into thin strips

  • 6 clove garlic chopped 

  • 4 Green chillies chopped

  • 2 dry Kashmiri red chillies 

  • Salt or as per taste 

  • ½ teaspoon Red chilli powder

  • 1 tablespoon Ghee

For Tempering 

  • 2 tablespoons Ghee

  • 1 small Onion chopped 

  • 1 inch Ginger chopped 

  • ½ teaspoon Red chilli powder 


Easy and Quick Ma ki Dal recipe

Method of making Ma ki Dal

  • Put black gram, kidney beans, and all the ingredients in the cooker and mix well. Do not add the seasoning ingredients to it.

  • After this, cook it till 3 to 4 whistles.

  • Remove the cooker from the flame and let it cool.

  • Open the cooker, mash the lentils well, and mix them.

  • Put the lentils on the gas on low flame and cook till they get a creamy consistency. Keep stirring it in between so that it does not burn.

  • Now we will add tempering to it. For this, heat ghee in a pan. Add onion and ginger to it and fry it until golden.

  • Remove the pan from the flame. Add chili powder to it and add the tempering to the lentils, mix well and boil once.

  • Once cooked, serve the lentils hot with rice and roti.
