Easy and Quick Matar Paneer recipe

Matar paneer is a popular North Indian dish made from paneer and green peas. It is cooked in a tomato onion gravy. It is a vegetarian dish that is rich in a variety of nutrients. Spices like cumin, coriander and garam masala give it a wonderful aroma and flavour. It is often served with naan, roti or rice. It is very easy to make, let's see how it is made:


Ingredients

  • 1 kg paneer

  • 1 inch piece of ginger (10 grams)

  • 8-9 garlic cloves

  • 4 large onions grated

  • 2 large tomatoes finely chopped

  • Salt to taste

  • Vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1½ tablespoon coriander powder

  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder

  • 2 teaspoon red chili powder

  • 5 small bowls of green peas

  • ½ teaspoon garam masala

  • Water as required

  • Finely chopped coriander leaves

Method of making matar paneer

  • Wash the paneer and cut it into small pieces. If you are using homemade paneer then there is no need to wash it.

  • Put 2 teaspoons of oil in the pan. Let it heat up and then lightly fry the paneer pieces in it.

  • After this, put oil in a deep pan and let it heat up. Now add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

  • After this, add onion and fry well.

  • Now make a paste of ginger garlic and add it and fry well.

  • Now add tomatoes and fry well. After this add all the dry spices and fry well.

  • Fry the tomato and spice paste till the oil starts separating from it. You can add some water to it so that the spices do not burn.

  • After the spices are cooked, add water as per requirement and add boiled peas and let it boil.

  • After ten minutes mix it well and add paneer pieces to it. Let it boil for some time. Then add garam masala and coriander leaves and boil till it comes to a boil.

  • Serve it in a serving bowl and serve with hot roti, paratha, naan rice etc.
