Dal Paratha is a nutritious and delicious Indian dish filled with a mixture of lentils. It is a healthy food that has many properties of lentils. Let's know how it is made -
Ingredients:
For the dough:
2 cups wheat flour
Water, as needed
Salt to taste
For the dal filling:
1 cup cooked Chana dal
1 onion, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped
1 tsp roasted cumin powder
A pinch of asafetida
1 tsp ginger paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Chopped fresh coriander
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking the parathas
Method of making Dal paratha:
Prepare the dough:
In a large bowl, add wheat flour and a pinch of salt. Now add water slowly and prepare a soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set for 20-30 minutes. Till then prepare the dal filling.
Prepare the dal filling:
Put the dal in a pressure cooker, add water, and cook till two whistles. When the cooker cools down, strain the dal and keep it aside.
Grind the cooked dal on a grinding stone. If you want, you can also grind it with the help of a small bowl. You have to make a coarse paste of it. do not grind it in mixie.
Once the dal paste is ready, put it in a bowl, add chopped onion, chopped green coriander, chopped green chilies, ginger paste, turmeric, roasted cumin powder, roasted asafetida, and salt according to taste, and mix it well. The dal filling is ready.
Making and Cooking paratha
To make parathas, take small balls of dough. Roll the dough into the shape of a small disc. Place a spoonful of filling in the middle and close it by spreading the dough from all sides. Apply some dry flour on this dal-filled dough, flatten it with your hand, and roll it with the help of a rolling pin. Roll it in such a way that the filling does not come out. Roll all the parathas in the same way and prepare them.
Heat a pan to cook these parathas. Keep the heat low-medium. Put the rolled paratha in the hot pan. When light bubbles start appearing on top, flip it. Sprinkle some oil all around the paratha, flip the paratha, and apply light oil on the other side as well. Cook it well from both sides.
You can eat it with any vegetable, chutney, or pickle.
