Healthy Palak Paratha Recipe: Indian healthy recipe

Palak Paratha is a nutritious and delicious Indian dish made from wheat flour and spinach. Spinach is rich in many nutrients like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Iron, Folate, and Potassium. It is very beneficial for our bodies. Including it in your breakfast can fulfill the deficiency of nutrients in your body. We can make many types of dishes from spinach to take advantage of its nutrients. One of these dishes is called Palak Paratha. Let's know how it is made:

Ingredients


For the Dough-


2 cups whole wheat flour

2 cups spinach (palak) leaves, washed and finely chopped or pureed

1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp ginger paste

1 tsp garlic paste

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

1 tsp oil or ghee

Salt to taste

Water, as needed


For Cooking-

Oil for cooking the parathas


Preparation of making Palak paratha

Preparing Spinach Puree-

Blanch and Puree (optional):

  • Boil water in a vessel, add spinach leaves, and blanch for 2-3 minutes.

  • After this, remove the spinach from hot water and put it in iced water.

  • Let it stay in cold water for a while. Remove it from this, put the palak in the mixer, and make a puree.




Prepare the dough:

  • In a large bowl, add whole wheat flour, cumin seeds, carom seeds, ginger paste, garlic paste, green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt.

  • Add spinach puree to it and knead the dough well. If needed, add some water. Knead it into a soft dough.

  • Apply 1 teaspoon oil on the kneaded dough and cover it with a wet cloth for 20-30 minutes.

  • To make parathas, make equal-sized balls of the dough.

  • Take a ball of dough and flatten it a little. Sprinkle dry flour on it and roll it into a round paratha shape with the help of a rolling pin.

  • Heat the pan on a medium-high flame.

  • Place the rolled paratha on the hot pan. Cook the paratha for 1-2 minutes until bubbles start appearing on the surface.

  • Flip the paratha and apply a little oil on the sides and top of the paratha.

  • Cook it for 1-2 minutes, gently pressing with a spatula, until the paratha is cooked on both sides.

  • Take it off the pan and cook the rest of the parathas in the same way.

  • Serve the Palak Parathas hot with curd, pickle, chutney, or vegetable of your choice.

  • Enjoy these healthy and delicious Palak Parathas as a nutritious meal or snack!
