How to make Cabbage Thoran

Cabbage Thoran is a simple and healthy Kerala-style curry made with cabbage, coconut, and spices. It is a quick dish that goes well with rice, roti, or paratha. Let's see how it is made:



Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cabbage, finely shredded

  • 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 green chilies, slit (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 sprig of curry leaves

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 1-2 tbsp coconut oil (or any cooking oil)

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder (optional)

  • Water (a few tablespoons)


How to make Cabbage Thoran


Method of making Cabbage Thoran:

  • Wash the cabbage thoroughly and chop it finely.

  • Now heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and let them crackle. After this, add cumin seeds and let them roast as well.

  • After this, add onions and fry them well. Now add green chilies and curry leaves and fry them well.

  • Add the chopped cabbage and mix well. Add some water to prevent the mixture from burning from the bottom.

  • Now add turmeric powder and salt and mix.

  • Keep the flame on low. add grated coconut and mix well.

  • Mix everything and cook it for 2-3 minutes without covering it.

  • If you want, you can sprinkle black pepper powder on top. Your Cabbage Thoran is ready.

  • Eat Cabbage Thoran hot with steamed rice, dal, or chapati.
